Orientation, Calibration, and Structural Invariance
SOMMET GNOMON is the reference and calibration office of the Encoded Material Systems Federation. It provides a common basis for orientation, measurement, and semantic consistency across independently constituted domains, without assuming authority over their distinct functions. Its methods include reference processors, anti-drift protocols, invariant comparison, and the examination of changes in meaning across representations, materials, and time. GNOMON distinguishes measurement from publication, commerce, and governance: it establishes what can be observed, compared, and verified without converting those findings into claims of ownership or dominion. Its work supports the preservation of structural invariance in complex federated systems, including environments where communication, transformation, and interpretation introduce uncertainty.

GNOMON does not publish reality into existence.
It does not command correction merely because it detects deviation.
It measures.
Its reference must be recoverable.
Its observations must remain distinguishable from interpretation.
Its methods must be visible.
A civilization cannot preserve what it can no longer distinguish.
GNOMON exists so that what has been faithfully established may remain faithfully recognizable through time.
